due to a debt not paid by the organizers

BARI – Nothing to do: the traditional fireworks display of the May festival of San Nicola in Bari is definitively cancelled. After the rumors that have swirled in recent days and the failure to launch this morning and the 9.45 show, the company Emotion Fireworks of Gioia del Colle has confirmed that there will not be fireworks.

The basis of the dispute that put at risk the success of the feast of San Nicola, long awaited by the people of Bari, would be a lack of payment. In recent days the Gioia del Colle company officially sent a formal notice to the event’s organizing committee asking to receive the payment due. When the organizers refused, the company reportedly asked to remove the company’s name from the party program. In order to carry out the fireworks show, as happened in 2023, Emotion Fireworks asked to sign a new contract, but after yet another no from the committee, there was no alternative but to stop the fireworks event.

Because of this diatribe, the city of Bari will be left empty-handed and with its nose turned down this evening: no fireworks at 10pm. According to reports, an attempt is being made to take action first of all to obtain authorization to explode the barrels, a documentation that is obviously not immediate.

There would also be the possibility, albeit remote, of recovering the show tomorrow 9 May: the committee would have already contacted another company to save the fireworks over the sea in a corner, but only one attempt remains.

One thing is certain: this is the first time that the characteristic fireworks display of Bari’s Nicolaiana festival is definitively cancelled.
