Bologna, 8 May 2024 – Put the first rails of the red tram line in Bologna at the Leone Pancaldi roundabout in the Fiera area (video). “We are in line with the timetable of the works that I have to finish in 2026. But we will finish here by the summer.”

The mayor Matteo Lepore with the councilor for Mobility Valentina Orioli let it be known that the construction sites are following the roadmap And in via Riva Reno they could also end early (“we are now working on underground services”). The technicians indicate the radio map: once the work at the Fair is finished, we will move on to via della Repubblica and then to via Saffi. “There will be areas along the Red Line pavedbut also budding”, recalls the mayor.
Once the laying of the first rails was completed – each weighing 60 kilos per linear meter – there was no lack of anything applause among workers, city councilors (former councilor Mazzanti present), the president of the neighborhood Adriana Locascio and, some joke, some umarells. There is no shortage of criticism from some citizens of the neighborhood committee Besta schoolswhile some stopped the mayor to say no to the Passante and ask him not to close the city museum.
Path
The Red Line will have a terminus at the western end, i.e. in Borgo Panigale, and will continue along the axis of the Via Emilia, with stops at the Maggiore hospital, the center and central station, Bolognina and Fiera. Here the line will bifurcate: one branch will arrive at the terminus near the Fiera motorway toll booth and the Michelino car park while the other branch will go along viale della Repubblica and via San Donato continuing towards the Pilastro area, to arrive at the terminus in via Fanin near at the Faculty of Agriculture and at the CAAB.
The main depot of the line will be built to the west of the Borgo Panigale terminus, while a secondary depot will be located to the east of the Pilastro, in via Larga.
Overall there will be 31 stops along the tram route, in addition to the 3 terminus.
