From “Front of the stage” to “Rockimpresa”, the first of numerous training courses for professionals in the music sector, up to Dj Style and today’s projects such as Soundtracks-Film music, the artistic residencies in the Tower, the new spaces for rehearsals and coworking. Thirty intense years have been celebrated by the Centro Musica di Modena, the structure within the 71MusicHub in via Morandi 71 which promotes youth musical production, on Saturday 11 May with a day of live music, talks, open rehearsals and performances in the center location. As part of the party, the multimedia installation “Drawdown” will also be unveiled, created in collaboration between the Modena musician Riccardo La Foresta and the Texan visual artist Lisa B. Woods as part of the “City to City” project for Modena Unesco Creative City for Media arts.
The Music Center was founded in 1994 as a regional center for the promotion and production of youth music. It is supported by the municipal administration, the Province and the Region and is aimed at musicians and operators in the music sector with the five Mr.Muzik rehearsal rooms, the Off live music venue, the coworking space, the Residence Tower, a consultancy office.
Since its inception it has carried out promotion of musical events and activities and training for musicians and professionals in the music industry with courses such as Rockimpresa and the residency for young bands Fronte del stage; the Live Sound Education seminars for sound engineers and the training for the planning of Live & Sound events which saw the participation of guests and teachers of the caliber of Gino Paoli, Luca Barbarossa and Elio and Faso di Elio and the stories aimed at the Concerts and meetings series , Jovanotti, who met the students, Cristina Donà for Fronte del stage, the Modena city ramblers and maestro Luciano Pavarotti, with the 99 Posse, for the Music Festival.
In recent years, the activity linked to artistic residencies has developed with Soundtracks, a path of integration between musical and cinematographic and (so)nic languages, on contemporary experimental music, and that for training professional figures of live entertainment: the Urban Video videomaking, for Inside Tech audio technicians; for professionals in the Inside Live music supply chain. The creativity support activity is carried out mainly through Sonda – Talent Oriented, aimed at artists in the region.
On Saturday 11 May the thirtieth anniversary party begins at 11.30 at the Torre del Centro Musica with the institutional greetings that introduce the talk “Having 30 years” in which artists, curators and collaborators who, from the 90s to today, have contributed to the activities of the Centre: Corrado Nuccini, curator of Soundtracks artistic residency; Elena Roveda, collective musician Soundtracks 2023; Giuseppe Cordaro, curator of the Sonitus artistic residence; the musician Marco Bertoni and the journalist Andrea Tinti for the Sonda project; Federico Sigillo, videomaker; the musicians Irene Pignatti and Riccardo Cocetti; Francesca Cappi, curator of the Urban Video course; Filippo Stanzani, curator of the Inside Tech course; Laura Saracino, Inside Live 2023 course student; Oderso Rubini, record producer and training course consultant.
In the afternoon, from 2pm to 8pm, bands will be able to use Mr Muzik’s rehearsal rooms for free (just book on 059 203 4810). Also in the rooms of Mr Muzik, from 9pm to 11pm, there will be a jam session with free participation, while at 10pm, at Off, the “Open Mic” evening opens to musicians, bands, actors, performers, stand ups. comedians selected through the ongoing call on www.musicplus.it.
