The caravan of Tour of Italy face today the 5th stage of the 2024 edition, Genoa-Lucca which runs for a total length of 178km which takes runners from Liguria to Tuscany. Today’s event, 9 May 2024, is destined to transform into a new opportunity for sprinters with a more than likely sprint finish. Among the favourites, the specialists who could shine. No real risk, on paper, for the Maglia Rosa Tadej Pogacar, who yesterday at the end of the stage promised to “stay calm”, without specifying until when.
The route includes a first part of the stage that promises well, in particular with the Passo del Bosco after 62 km: The Mountain Grand Prix Of third category it can liven up the race but the breakaway is decidedly difficult to predict in this stretch of the route. For almost 100 km, in fact, you go on total plain until second GPM of the day: about 20 km from the finish line is the Montemagno, a fourth category which is a prologue to the last stretch of the route towards the finish line.
