PRATO.An evening full of the charm of four wheels at the Panathlon Club Prato with president Massimiliano Martini. The charm of vintage cars, regularity races and the Mille Miglia with protagonists Alessandro Moretti, fresh from 3rd place, as navigator, at the historical re-enactment of the Milan-Sanremo Cup valid as a test of the Italian regularity sports championship, and already a member of the Aci Prato Sports Commission; and with his wife Gaetana Angino, driver of the Scuderia Classic Team who won the title of Italian Historic Car Regularity Champion and the Ladies’ Cup at the 2019 Nuvolari Grand Prix. And with them the organizational manager of the Prato stage on June 14th of the Mille Miglia, Tiziano Cherubini, founder and president for 14 years of the Ruote Classiche Club.
With the presentation of the evening by panathlete partner Pasquale Petrella, Moretti and his wife Angino made the panathletes and their guests discover the characteristics of regularity races, topics often not known to the general public, with their dynamics linked to respect for times and unknowns related to traffic. Alessandro Moretti, navigator and Gaetana Angino, pilot, but in different pairs, test themselves on the roads of all of Italy, covering thousands of kilometers with the only concern of not missing even a second’s passage on the “tube” which starts the stopwatch, a stage after stage.
Tiziano Cherubini instead had the task of illustrating the Prato stage of the Mille Miglia which will see the Automobil Club Prato responsible for the stretch from Poggio a Caiano to Rosi. A few tens of kilometers which however do not allow for errors, also because “Prato already has an option for the centenary of the race in 2027 and we absolutely don’t want to take this chance”, says Cherubini. Supporting Aci Prato which enjoys the patronage of the municipality of Prato, there are already around twenty associations and during the evening the Panathlon Club Prato itself also joined.
Cherubini spoke about the characteristics and the route that the 505 international crews who are registered for the competition will follow with the cars that will enter the heart of Prato passing through Piazza del Duomo where there will be the stands of the associations that will collaborate with the organizers, the body of the municipal valets and the public. Then the caravan will move to Piazza San Domenico where it will be welcomed by the scouts who have a regional gathering in Prato that very day. And then the transit under Porta Pistoiese where they will find the dragon and the Chinese figures to celebrate them. Then the transit towards via Bologna where the convoy of cars will enter the former Lanificio Balli (Il Fabbricone), to then cross the Datini Bridge and continue along viale Borgovalsugana in the direction of Rosi, the area where the commitment of the Prato organizers.
An evening dedicated to four-wheel sport but without the anxiety of speed and frenzy. Regularity certainly has other dynamics, but the competition is there and you can feel it and Alessandro Moretti and Gaetana Angino who race for the Classic Team stable of Mantua are a flagship for Prato sport and for this reason they were celebrated by the Panathlon club Lawn.
