Fight against drug dealing: crackdown by the soldiers of the Carrara Army, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Cristiano Marella.
During two separate anti-drug operations, the police seized doses of cocaine and hashish definitely destined for the local shop. In the first case, a bartender from Versilia of foreign origins got into trouble resident in Fosdinovo suspected of having set up a hashish “ring” in the lower Lunigiana, Instead the second arrest was made in the dark hours in a park public of Avenza, where the pusher evidently thought he was escaping controls.
In Fosdinovo, following extensive investigative activity concluded in early May, the carabinieri showed up at the home of a 33-year-old originally from Morocco, where they found a pound of hashish hidden in the sofa. The man, who works as a seasonal barman in Versilia, in recent times he had come under the spotlight of the military of the Corps who had become suspicious of his strange “tours” which had not gone unnoticed in the area where he lives, located in the small hamlet of Giucano, along the provincial road that leads to Sarzana.
As soon as they entered the house, the police asked the boy to take out all the drugs in his possession but he only handed over about ten grams of hashish that he had on hand in the living roomperhaps convinced that that gesture of collaboration would have been enough to avoid the search. The soldiers of the Carabinieri, however, wanted to get to the bottom of the matter and so a whole block of hashish appeared hidden under the sofa together with four hundred euros in cash. At that point the man also reported that he had hidden a precision scale in the woods, but then it wasn’t able to indicate the exact point. All the drugs were seized and the 33-year-old ended up in handcuffs for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority which validated the provision. The judge then imposed on him the obligation to sign at a barracks outside the Provinceawaiting the trial which has been postponed to the end of May.
The second anti-drug operation was carried out a few days ago in Carrara, in the area of Avenza, where, in order to guarantee greater safety for citizens, the Carabinieri are carrying out an intense control activity in the area which has recently resulted in various arrests and complaints. This time the attention of the police was focused on a group of foreigners who were there fumbling near a bench located in a hidden area of the “Ragazzi del 1944” public park in via Campo D’appio, among which there was a 29-year-old originally from Morocco. QThe latter, as soon as the patrol rushed to the spot, tried to get rid of a stone of cocaine weighing approximately five grams which was immediately recovered by the military, together with some cellophane scraps which were probably used to wrap the doses to be passed aroundAnd. From the terminal it turned out that he had been released from prison in early March of this year after having atoned a conviction for drug dealingso evidently he had started living the same life as before again. A compatriot who was with him, however, was found not to comply with the rules on residence, so both were taken to the barracks, where the pusher found with the drugs was declared in arrest. After the validation of the provision, the judge ordered that the 29-year-old await trial he will have to stay away from Carrara with the measure of the residence ban.
