“In the history of Liguria, what we are witnessing in these hours has never happened. A system of power whose construction and management we have repeatedly expressed concern and alarm about is collapsing. Everyone will have the opportunity to defend themselves in the appropriate forums but the seriousness of the accusations should lead all those who hold public positions to resign immediately, so as to free the institutions from embarrassment and indignation. However, what questions us at this moment, as Municipal Councilors of the Municipality of La Spezia, are the implications that the investigations could have – and in part have already had – on important matches and issues in our territory”. This is the note with which Marco Raffaelli, Martina Giannetti, Andrea Frau, Andrea Montefiori, Dino Falugiani, Piera Sommovigo and Viviana Cattani try to bring the discussion into the field of the operation of some projects closely linked with the Liguria Region, governed since yesterday by Alessandro Piana after the arrest of Giovanni Toti.
“We therefore make an appeal to Mayor Peracchini, with the request to present himself to the municipal council, convened for the evening of Monday 13 May to clarify and specify the construction project of the Felettino hospital, by will of President Toti under the total management of Liguria Region, which is crucial for our healthcare system – asks the Democratic Party group -. We believe it is in the interests of the entire La Spezia community to understand whether the construction site will be affected by the effects of the judicial measures we are witnessing. We therefore ask the mayor to make the necessary contacts with the offices of the Liguria Region, Alisa and ASL5 and to obtain the necessary guarantees regarding the continuation of the work within the times and methods previously established”.
The second topic is the completion of the Aurelia Variation, both for the execution of the first lot and for the tendering of the second and third projects. “We cannot then remain indifferent to the news that, among those under investigation, there is also Dr. Francesco Fiorino, who until a few days ago was the mayor’s deputy chief of staff. A person of such close trust that it pushed Peracchini himself to propose him for the next appointment as CEO of Atc Esercizio. In these respects, the request is to understand from the mayor the activities that Dr. Fiorino has managed over the years representing him, in his capacity as deputy head of cabinet”.
Finally, the focus is on ATC to have “the picture of the future of the company that manages local public transport in our city and our province. A reality that is facing further important events, such as the tender for the subcontracting of 30% of the service – already affected by the well-known problems that we have denounced together with the unions.
We believe it is appropriate to receive timely answers, regarding what is listed, in the interest of our fellow citizens and the fate of essential public services for our city”.
