He stabbed his wife who lived in Caltanissetta: life imprisonment in Cassation

The Court of Cassation rejected the appeal of the lawyers of Abdelfettah Jennati, the Moroccan accused of killing his wife Aycha El Abioui on 24 November 2020 in Canedoghe, confirming the life sentence. The forty-year-old had been convicted by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Venice which had not recognized mental defect, not even partially, nor any generic mitigating circumstances. The woman’s brothers, parents and children, who live in Caltanissetta, had joined the civil action assisted by lawyers Dino Milazzo, Martina Vurruso, Daniela Guezzo and Massimo Schiavon. The woman, after living in Caltanissetta, moved to Veneto. In the days before the crime, the man would have searched online for information on poisons using his smartphone. Her wife was killed on the bed in the master bedroom, with a couple of stab wounds to the chest. The defendant’s lawyers had produced documents with the sole objective of demonstrating the forty-year-old’s incapacity of understanding and will, also filing a psychiatric report. Aycha had turned to the social services of the Municipality of Cadoneghe, where she lived, telling of a possessive and violent husband. She asked for help and protection for herself and her children. Then the woman disappeared from the anti-violence center, informing him that she needed to be hospitalized. She was not heard from again until the news of her killing arrived.
