A real generational change, demonstrated by the numbers. In 2023, Avis in the province of Pisa saw its membership increase by 767 members, of which the 40% are young people under 25.
A batch witnessed by the last one reports drawn up by the association at regional level: while the most representative age group is between 46 and 55 yearswith 1,401 donors, those between 26 and 35 years old are second with 1,247, a few fewer.
“Data that highlights how the awareness campaigns carried out by Avis with respect to the younger segments of the population are having an effect – commented the president of Avis Toscana, Claudia Florence – And a vital generational change, since the need for blood, plasma and other blood products never stops. To deal with it adequately we need everyone’s support, from individual donors to blood transfusion centers. The objective now is to consolidate these results during 2024.”
In terms of donations, the contribution of donors from the Pisa area was significant, with 8,464 total donations, representing an increase of almost 3% compared to the previous year. “The data collected on Pisa makes us think that the path taken is the right one – he added Mario Bruselliprovincial president of Avis – the results achieved, especially in terms of raising awareness among the younger sections of the population, lead us to continue our work with confidence”.
