Two tourists stopped at the port of Olbia.

This morning, during the procedures inspection of passengers departing from the port of Olbia – Isola Bianca, the Security agents of the Sardinia Sea Port System Authority intercepted a pair of Tuscan tourists headed for Livorno, in possession of a load of stones from the Fordongianus area.

About one twenty stones they were discovered in the trunk of the car and immediately reported to the territorial operational section of the Customs Agency for the necessary checks on the origin of the material. It cannot be excluded that some stones, due to their nature, may come from archaeological sitesraising concerns about the possible depredation of Sardinia’s historical and cultural heritage.

This episode represents the second case of foiled theft during the year, highlighting the need to intensify controls during the 2024 tourist season. The Port System Authority of the Sea of ​​Sardinia undertakes to guarantee increasingly accurate controls to departing passengers, fundamental for the protection and safeguarding of the rich heritage of the Sardinian region.
