An almost historic result from the Ragusa city council which yesterday adopted the new general master plan.
A commissioner has been dealing with it for some time now. This time, however, the transversal axis between the majority, PD and Territory held up and even if with a limited quorum and some moments of tension between Participiamo and Pd, the objective was achieved. GenerAzione abstained, Fratelli d’Italia against.
The PRG, modified with 45 amendments, was approved with the vote of the councilors Digrandi, Pasta, Ilardo, Mezzasalma, La Licata, Occhipinti, Iurato, Calabrese, Chiavola and Laporta.
“Reduction of housing needs, urban regeneration and mending, certain urban planning rules, public green areas. They are the leaders of a new vision for the future of the city. I thank the political forces that contributed to approving this fundamental act and the offices that worked tirelessly”, declared the deputy mayor Gianni Giuffrida.
“We did an excellent job, demonstrating responsibility,” declared DEM Peppe Calabrese.
“I had the honor of chairing a historic session this evening. In my memory, in fact, it had never happened that the City Council managed to approve the master plan. Rather, the commissioner had always thought about it.
“This time, in Ragusa, we achieved the objective by giving full interpretation to the function that comes from being city councilors and therefore an expression of the city. This is why we should be proud of the work carried out, in a patient and at the same time determined manner to reach a goal of great importance for the entire community. Allow me to thank all those who have committed themselves to these months of hard work, characterized by a sometimes heated discussion, but always useful in arriving at a shared result. We all did it patiently to hit a target of considerable importance which I consider positive for Ragusa. Ilardo thanked the mayor who guaranteed ample room for manoeuvre, providing everyone with the possibility of intervening so that the urban planning instrument was the result of the various political expressions”.
But it is clear that it is not all sunshine and roses.
“My request to postpone the city council meeting was ignored, pending clarifications, in our opinion essential, from the general secretary. My request for postponement was echoed by the one voiced in the Council by my colleague Rocco Bitetti who, having obtained the denial of postponement, left the room. Bitetti, referring to what I had already expressed in the request duly registered in recent days, spoke of a potentially illegitimate act considering that, by abstaining and not declaring two city councilors incompatible, they could contribute to determining an advantage even towards themselves. Naturally, we reserve the right to further verification actions.”
So declared the municipal councilor of the Five Star movement, Sergio Firrincieli.
What is certain is that the approval will not remain an isolated event and the reactions of parties and councilors are awaited.
