“Countering road accidents”: with this objective, over the past weekend, the Traffic Police officers carried out numerous checks in the heart of Messina, with the help of the medical and nursing staff of the State Police Health Office.
The toll is 22 vehicles and 35 people checked.
Four drivers were stopped while driving under the influence of alcohol. Five various infringements of the highway code were contested.
A total of four licenses were withdrawn and, for drivers with a blood alcohol level higher than 0.80 g/l, in addition to the withdrawal of the license, reports were filed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Messina for the crime of driving while intoxicated.
The result highlights that, for this type of offence, the most risky time slot continues to be the night time period, from 10pm to 6am and that the greatest incidence of drunk driving concerns men.
“Based on the results achieved – declares the Director of the Traffic Police of Messina, Antonio Capodicasa – these services will also be implemented in the coming weekends, as the fight against driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs constitutes a very important aspect in the dual direction of preventing the psychophysical health of drivers and, on the other, protection connected to vehicular circulation”.
