PESARO – A journey en plein air in the sculptures from Pesaro, works left in the city by artists in a historical moment in which Pesaro was at the forefront and driving force of artistic innovation. The Institutionalization of ‘has been put in black and whitePesaro urban sculpture park‘, motion proposed by city councilor Anna Maria Mattioli.

«It is a duty towards the heirs who donated 22 works of inestimable value». The text also indicates to “periodically monitor the state of conservation of the works”, “organize information events and conferences”, “prepare a specific dedicated section on the institutional website”, “support the dissemination and creation of press releases and press conferences”, ” evaluate the relocation of the work Saturno (1962) by Ettore Colla within the nineteenth-century Garden of the Orti Giulii”.

“La Porta a Mare” by Loreno Sguanci was recently restoreddonated in 1976. But we look forward because now there is an entire urban park whose points are ideally joined.

«A sculptural capital that encompasses well 22 works by artists who wanted to pay homage to the city of Pesaro with their artistic imprint; works that blend and dialogue with the surrounding urban fabric and characterize the places. Great masters of the twentieth century such as Pomodoro, Sguanci, Gentiletti, Colla, Mattiacci, Vangi, Bompadre, Miniucchi and many others to represent in a widespread way a connection that is still alive and active with the observer”.

Mattioli specifies: «My document, through compliance with theLoreno Sguanci Archive tends to promote and build a conscious path of study through a series of activities ranging from cataloguing, archiving and conservation of existing works, also promoting visit programs and educational activities, to make this important heritage more accessible. Periodic monitoring of the state of conservation of the works is essential by preparing a dedicated expenditure chapter with an initial allocation of funds useful for maintenance and combating degradation, to be increased over time based on real needs. It will therefore be necessary to prepare a dedicated section available to users on the institutional website of the Municipality of Pesaro, with descriptions of the works and authors of the Pesaro Urban Sculpture Park, also with location maps. The new institutional guise will allow us to participate together with the Loreno Sguanci Archive in local, regional and national calls for funds for shared initiatives”.
