Hera, here comes budget 2023. The multiutility has, in fact, reported the results achieved in the last twelve months on Ferrara territoryboth in terms of the economic value of its policies and in environmental terms, such as the reduction of equivalent carbon dioxide emissions, separate waste collection and bill installments.

Economic value
During 2023, in the province of Ferrara alone the distributed value amounted to 71.4 million euros, divided between workers, shareholders, public administration and suppliers; there are approximately 450 employees and a thirty new hires carried out in the Ferrara area last year, to which is added the employment effect of local suppliers amounting to almost 200 jobs.
Carbon dioxide equivalent
The company already has carbon neutrality reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 14%. (compared to 2019), in line with the 37% reduction objective by 2030. These data consider both the direct emissions of the Group and those of customers which have also decreased as a result of energy efficiency interventions, due to the climate and of behavioral changes.
The Ferrara system has a carbon footprint of 0.099 kilos of carbon dioxide equivalent per thermal kWh sold. This value, making an estimate using the same methodology, is 64% lower than the calculation referring to a traditional domestic boiler. The data led to estimate a annual savings of over 26 thousand tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by the district heating of Ferrara.
Waste sorting
In Ferrara the separate waste collection has reached 88% and for separate waste collection per capita equal to 562 kilos (2022 data) the city is at first place of the ranking of all provincial capitals with a population exceeding 100 thousand inhabitants. Furthermore, thanks to the various ongoing reuse projects, in collaboration with local associations and non-profit organisations, they have been recovered unexpired medications for a value of 46 thousand euros and 31 tons of bulky items still in good condition sent for reuse.
Payment of bills in installments
Again with reference to 2023, in 2023 in the province of Ferrara they were paid in installments 16,200 bills to families and companies, over 20% less than in 2022, for a total value of 11 million euros. Furthermore, there are 138 Municipalities with which a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed to avoid the suspension of supplies to families in economic difficulty followed by Social Services, of which 10 in the province of Ferrara, including the capital.
