A steamroller towards victory.

Alessio Albore (Photo Home by IPO-Eurorounders) enters his name in the roll of honor of the Italian Poker Open and with total dominance wins the €550 Main Event IPO Sanremo, after having put something like 3,827 rivals behind him .

A sensational triumph which is worth the first 250,000 euro coin, despite the ICM Deal which meanwhile leaves the highest check for the new champion, while Gouzil Hervé and Francesco De Rose opted to equally share second and third prize for €142,500.

Let’s see in detail.

Sanremo IPO: Orsi first to let go of the final table

Fifteen players returned to the Matuzian gaming house for the last act of the €550 IPO Sanremo. Seven eliminations are therefore needed to create the eight-player TV final table. Not an excessively long descent which sees Alessio Albore take the lead in the count with 37 million pieces and the rest of the ranks following.

The final table represents the swan song for Alessandro Orsi who dominated the scene for a long time from day 2 onwards. Once down in the count he tries to double up with 7-7 but Albore snaps with AK and an ace on the turn forces the former leader of the second day to surrender in exchange for 19,370 euros. He doesn’t fare much better than Mario Llapi.

The latter climbs up the count, on the way to the final table and with seven left in the middle of a blind war he ends up all in with Gouzil Hervé’s A-10 vs 4-4. A 4 face card rewards the Frenchman and the credits arrive for Mario, together with a check for 25,200 euros. Valerio Marino farewells in sixth place, with AQ vs JJ by Francesco De Rose who flops the full house and sends his rival to the coffers for 42,500 euros.

Alessio Albore probably puts the seal on the victory when he eliminates Giulio Colazzo in fifth place, with AQ vs KQ and for Colazzo there are 57,500 euros to make the elimination less bitter.

Sanremo IPO: a special deal

With four left the situation is clear with Alessio Albore on the run and the other three players sharing the crumbs. In this very clear picture, Giancarlo Del Barone pushes with K-7, Francesco De Rose with QQ simply calls and Albore re-pushers in turn with AK, with De Rose incredibly folding.

The 9-4-2-10-2 board does not allow appeals and Alessio still rises in the count, while Del Barone is fourth in place for 81,000 euros. At this point, the fugitive has something like 130 big blinds on him, with De Rose and Gouzil Hervé floating with 10 blinds each. An abysmal advantage.

The gap effectively leads to the ICM Deal which brings the curtain down on the tournament. Francesco and Gouzil recognize Albore’s excessive power and therefore leave first place and the first prize of 250,000 euros to their rival, while they divide 142,500 euros between themselves without even playing. An unconditional surrender that launches Alessio Albore into the Olympian of IPO champions.
