RIMINI- Italy’s victory in the Davis Cup, awaited for 47 years, is immortalized by a Poste Italiane stamp. Just today, May 8th, it is issued by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy a postage stamp from the ‘Sport’ thematic series dedicated to the Italian conquest of the 2023 Davis Cup, worth €3.60. The stamp is printed by the State Polygraphic Institute and Mint in rotogravure, on white, neutral coated, self-adhesive, non-fluorescent paper. In the centre, the cartoon which graphically depicts the Italian men’s tennis team in the act of lifting the trophy of the Davis Cup, the highest world competition for national teams, won in the 2023 edition. The cartoon is finally decorated, at the top right, with a ribbon in the colors of the Italian flag.
While the stamp sheet reproduces, in the foreground on the left, a photograph of the Italian tennis team around the Davis Cup trophy won in 2023, and in particular, from left to right, the champions appear Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo ArnaldiCaptain Filippo Volandri, Jannik SinnerSimone Bolelli And Lorenzo Sonego. At the top, on the right, the stamp is set, while, at the bottom, the logo of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation is reproduced. The legend ‘Italian victory in the Davis Cup 2023’ completes the leaflet.
The first day of issue cancellation will be available at the philatelic counter of the Rome Prati post office. The stamp and related philatelic products – postcards, cards and illustrative bulletins – will be available at post offices with philatelic counters, the ‘Filately Space’ in Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Rome 1, Turin, Trieste, Venice, Verona and on the filatelia.poste.it website. Finally, for the occasion, a three-fold philatelic folder in A4 format was also created, containing a quadruplet of stamps, the leaflet, a canceled and stamped postcard, a first day of issue cover, the illustrative bulletin, at the price of 35 EUR.
