COMO – The Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce has issued the information note “Starts and closures of businesses in the 1st quarter of 2024” created by the Studies and Statistics office. At the end of March 2024, the Como-Lecco companies registered in the Register of the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce increased by 229 units compared to the end of March 2023 (+167 in Como and +62 in Lecco), with a growth of 0.3% (Como +0.4%; Lombardy unchanged and Italy -1%). Registered businesses stand at 71,572 units (47,131 in Como and 24,441 in Lecco).
However, the balance between registrations and terminations in the first quarter of this year is negative by 274 units (Como -170; Lecco -104). The Como companies born between January and March were 1,484 (948 and 536 respectively), with a growth of 11.6% compared to the first three months of 2023 (Como +9.6%; Lecco +15.3%; Lombardy +4.5%; Italy +5%); closures stood at 1,758 (of which 1,118 in Como and 640 in Lecco), up 13.7% (+9.9% and +21% respectively; Lombardy +10.2%; Italy +7.9 %). Therefore, there was a decrease of 257 registered companies compared to the end of 2023 (-156 in Como and -101 in Lecco), equal to -0.4% (-0.3% and -0.4% respectively, at compared to -0.3% regional and -0.5% national).
