Accidents at work in Sicily do not stop. While the five victims of the Casteldaccia massacre are being mourned, another worker was seriously injured in the province of Ragusa. This is PS, a forty-nine year old from Scicli who was working for a company in the hamlet of Donnalucata.
The man was carrying out some renovation work on a building in via Sanremo when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he fell from scaffolding. A terrible flight after which he would have been skewered by an iron beam. When the alarm was raised, the 118 medics arrived on site and provided initial treatment to the injured man, but given his condition, the arrival of the air ambulance was immediately requested. The vehicle landed a few minutes later in the square near the fruit and vegetable market in the Spinello district, where the worker was transported.
In code red
The man was transferred under code red to the Trauma center of the Cannizzaro hospital in Catania. In the meantime, the carabinieri, the Spresal officials of the ASP of Ragusa and the municipal police officers also arrived at the scene of the accident. Investigations are underway to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident, it will also be necessary to ascertain the presence or absence of all safety devices.
