in Cagliari the fleet is increasingly green

The “Green” fleet of the Poste Italiane Logistics Center in via Simeto in Cagliari is expanding. Recently, in fact, a further 7 electric vehicles were adopted by the headquarters, which are added to the other 187 “ecological” vehicles in Southern Sardinia, including electric and hybrid cars, low-emission electric and thermal tricycles, electric quadricycles, for delivery of parcels and correspondence.

The setups

Thanks to these new means, therefore, in the capital the mail travels in an increasingly sustainable way throughout the delivery process. The new vehicles in the Poste Italiane fleet have been modified and made functional to the needs of the postal service; for example, in some cars, the passenger seat is equipped with a particular arrangement for housing the boxes or particular shelving for the transport of parcels. Still others have ad hoc accessories for Poste Italiane’s mission, such as the Keyless Entry&Start system for remote driver recognition. Thanks to this technology, the doors and tailgate unlock automatically, making the operators’ work easier.

The objectives of the new plan

The renewal of the company fleet from a sustainable perspective is part of the new 2024-2028 industrial plan: “The Connecting Platform” which aims at the transformation of logistics and the evolution of a commercial model serving customers, with the aim of looking at a new segment made up of small and medium-sized businesses contributing to the end-to-end logistical development of a postal network and a network increasingly driven by parcel management. A further step forward for the group led by CEO Matteo Del Fante towards achieving the goal of carbon neutrality 2050.
