There State Police has implemented a specific initiative throughout the national territory aimed at combating driving while intoxicated or under the influence of narcotic or psychotropic substances along the roads affected by the nightlife nocturnal.
Last Friday evening, an extraordinary control service also took place in the city of Potenza which involved numerous units of the capital’s Traffic Police and a mobile unit with health personnel from the State Police.
In total, 35 drivers were subjected to breathalyzer tests and salivary fluid sampling, of which one of them tested positive for the drug test. During the checks, numerous other violations of traffic regulations were detected.
We remind you that driving while intoxicated or under the influence of narcotic or psychotropic substances constitutes a criminal offense which can lead to arrest for up to one year and a fine of up to 6000 euros as well as suspension of the driving license for up to two years or up to four years if the vehicle belongs to a person unrelated to the crime. All penalties are doubled if the impaired driver causes a road accident. In the latter case the license will be revoked.
