Trieste, the Authority thinks again: increases in port taxes suspended

TRIESTE – The Port System Authority of the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone has decided to temporarily suspend the decree with which it increased the tax rate and port tax, effectively doubling them.
The decision for the Free Points of the international airport concerns goods other than mineral oils and derivatives and mineral oils in bulk. The decree that had decided a “Additional port tax (art. 2 Presidential Decree no. 107/2009) for the customs ports of Trieste and Monfalcone, state tax for PP.FF. of Trieste (art. 8 Interministerial Decree no. 339/1989), port tax for PP.FF. Of Trieste (art. 9 Interministerial Decree no. 339/1989) relating to goods loaded and unloaded, to cover the expenses assumed by the Port Authority regarding safety and security”.
Yesterday a meeting was held meeting between the Authority and port operators, from which the need to establish a technical table emerged, with the aim of carrying out in-depth analyzes that take into account the particular economic moment. All to find solutions that are as shared as possible. For this reason, it has been decided that, starting from 8 May, it is appropriate to temporarily suspend the effectiveness of the two aforementioned decrees.
