Michelin Guide: eight establishments obtain three keys in Italy

There are 146 accommodation facilities in Italy that have received one, two or three Michelin keys, out of the 526 hotels recommended by the Michelin guide in the beautiful country. Last October, in fact, the Guide had announced the expansionand in the hotel sector, introducing Michelin keys as a classification tool, instead of the stars used in the catering sector. The first selection of the guide was announced yesterday.

Specifically, there are eight structures that have obtained three Michelin keys – the highest level of the classification: Jk Place Capriboutique hotel located on a cliff overlooking the port of Marina Grande, The San Pietro of Positano, Majesty’s Court, in the medieval village of Civita di Bagnoregio (Lazio), Reschio Castlein Lisciano Niccone (Perugia), Casa Maria Luigiain Modena, Rosewood Castiglion Del Boscoin Montalcino (Tuscany) in Venice Aman Veniceand, always in the same lagoon city Cipriani, at Belmond Hotel.

There were 31 establishments that received two Michelin keys, including, to name a few, Borgo San Felicein the province of Siena, Palazzo Portinari Salviati Historic Residencein Florence, The Villages of the Hermitage (Perugia) and the Therasia Resorton the island of Vulcano (Sicily).

Among the regions of origin of the 107 structures that received a key, Tuscany is the most awarded region with 24 structures including Villa Fontelunga in Arezzo, Precise Tale Poggio alla Sala in Montepulciano (Tuscany) or Lupaia in Torrita di Siena. The hotel is also present in the ranking Passalacqua (Como), The Sirenuse of Positano And Hassler Rome.

In the regional ranking, Tuscany stands out with 32 hotels, followed by Campania with 18, while on the third step of the podium we find Lazio with 17 hotels. At the foot of the podium we find Lombardy and Trentino Alto-Adige tied with 16 award-winning hotels.

As with restaurants, hotels are also selected through the application of five criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design; individuality, personality and authenticity; quality and solidity of service, comfort and maintenance; relevance of the structure within the locality in which it is located and consistency between the price and the experience offered. Furthermore, using the Guide’s digital platforms, travelers can filter their search and book hotels from the selection for stays.
