Mascio, another defeat in Bologna

Mascio’s second consecutive defeat in the A2 series playoffs with two promotions to the top national series at stake. The final verdict was eloquent: coach Giorgio Valli’s team was sent home with an unequivocal 86-56. In broad terms the script recited on Sunday in Bologna was repeated. That is, Fortitudo constantly leads with the antagonists of the moment without the slightest reactivity. After all, the statistics speak clearly with the locals excelling in long-distance and rebound shots. Only two Mascio scored in double figures: Pacher and Barbante with 10 points each.

Bologna immediately conceded little to their opponents, posting a +11 (27-16) at the end of the opening half. In the following quarter the locals doubled their lead (36-18) after four minutes. At home in Treviglia we were starting to feel the breathless air of game one given the difficulty of countering concrete plays. Prediction confirmed at the long break with Bologna going into the break ahead by 26 points (49-23).

The counter-attacks of captain Sacchetti and his teammates were timid in the third half with Fortitudo always very careful to manage their already considerable advantage. In the last fraction there were no dramatic twists, on the contrary: Fortitudo was able to increase the margin again. With this other victory for Bologna it will be enough to win one of the two matches in Treviglio to reach the semi-final. Game three will take place on Friday 10 May at PalaFacchetti (8.30 pm)
