Maretta on the presidency in the second vote

The majority and opposition choose not to upset the political balance, after the unanimous approval of the amendment to the regulation which doubled the permanent council commissions, from 4 to 8.

The expedient to reach the maximum monthly compensation of 2,760 euros gross, as redetermined due to the increase in the mayor’s allowance established by the 2022 Budget Law, in theory, would also have multiplied presidencies and vice-presidencies, but the councilors preferred to confirm the same roles in the split commissions.

After all, it is an experimental phase. The socialist Mino Di Chiara chairs the first council commission, General Affairs, and the second, Economic Activities. The vice president is the civic Nunzio Angiola.

The Emilianist Pasquale Ciruolo leads the Budget commission and the fourth, Heritage, the vice president is Pasquale Rignanese of Forza Italia. The engineer Giovanni Quarato (M5S) chairs the fifth Environment commission and the sixth Territory, the deputy is the Melonian Claudio Amorese.

There would have been a bit of a stir in the seventh and eighth Social Policy and Culture commissions. The opposition civic councilor Antonio De Sabato, who in reality expressed a widespread uneasiness among the members regarding culture, stirred things up.

None of the members would be happy with the treatment reserved for the commission, which has so far been bypassed in cultural policies. The method with which the commission’s work has been conducted thus far would have been the subject of lively discussion.

De Sabato would have asked for the head of Italo Pontone, proposing the other three members of the majority as president. After all, there would never have been a particular feeling between the two. After a clarification on the line to follow, the members once again put their trust in the Dem.

Councilor Alice Amatore will participate in the commission’s work once a week. And if in the Culture commission Antonio De Sabato once again won the vice presidency, the same role in the Social Policies commission remains ‘frozen’.

Perhaps returning the ‘courtesy’, Pontone asked for one “pause for reflection” to the majority. The vote has been postponed and could also turn on another opposition councilor between Marco Pellegrino (Di Mauro mayor list) and Maurizio Accettulli (Brothers of Italy).
