He became aware of the theft which had occurred in his house under renovation in Madonna dell’Olmo, a house used occasionally, when an acquaintance showed him the sale advertisement for a bicycle identical to his. Rushing into the house, the man discovered that a television, a refrigerator, a table with chairs and a smartphone had also disappeared from the house. While they were busy stealing furniture and appliances, the thieves also found time to drink a few beers and take some cocaine, the remains of which were in plain sight on a coffee table in the living room. The victim of the theft which occurred in May 2022 was the Cuneo footballer Lys Gomis (in the photo), who grew up in the Turin youth team, who immediately after the discovery had called the Carabinieri. The Norm soldiers who arrived on site to investigate had noticed a shutter that had been forced and raised sideways through which one accessed the kitchen. The footballer said he discovered about the theft when an acquaintance stopped him in Piazza Galimberti to show him the advert for sale of a bicycle identical to his; the suspicion led him to go to the house where he discovered the rest of the missing objects. In his complaint, the 35-year-old former Torino goalkeeper had mentioned the name of MA who, together with CS and CFL, are the defendants in the trial underway at the Cuneo court. The first of the three is accused of theft, while CS was accused of aiding and abetting and CFL of receiving the bicycle with attempted extortion: it was he, according to the accusation, who proposed the return of the bike in exchange for a thousand euros. The phone instead ended up with a young man from Cerialdo accused of a related crime and then acquitted; in the courtroom the young man reported that he had purchased the phone from MA who gave it to him with the original box and charger: “MA had offered it to me and said he had received it as a gift from Lys Gomis. The price was good and it was complete with everything.” The military obtained other information from the victim of the theft herself who in the following days received a recording of a phone call between a man and a woman; in the conversation she said that she had been contacted by MA who offered her a table and some chairs, while the man, identified as the other accused CFL, said that MA had also taken some clothes and that he had left some drugs on the table. Also called to testify in the courtroom was MN, an old acquaintance of the police force, contacted by the victim of the theft to find out if he had news of the objects that had been stolen from him: “I told him that in Cerialdo there were many open cellars and check them and he then found the table and chairs. CS had given me an old table of hers, but I don’t know if instead of that she had received one as a gift, bought one or something else. I don’t know this.” The hearing was postponed to March 20, 2025 to hear the story of the victim of the theft and for the conclusion of the investigation.
