Safe Lombardy / The petition continues until June 10th

More than 60 thousand signatures have been collected since March 1st. After the April hearing, the TAR sets the next one for November, rejecting the Region’s findings on the appeal and asking it to be notified also to the Regional Council, as well as to the Council. Tramparulo (FP Cgil): “The legal battle continues and we too, with the entire Committee, hope for a positive outcome. We have many reasons, starting from the five represented in the petition”

7 May 2024 – With more than 60 thousand signatures collected so far, the petition, launched on March 1st by the “Safe Lombardy” Committee, continues in defense of “the right to health and public health” in our region, which has become a negative paradigm of a model that increasingly pushes towards the private and therefore distorting a right into a privilege.

The petitionboth at banquets organized from time to time locally, and onlinewill last until next June 10th.

Support for the cause also comes from the “motions voted in the Municipalities”. To be precise, to date, those of Canegrate, Pregnana Milanese, San Felice Benaco and Mantua, where, in addition to relaunching the five pillars of the petition, the Lombardy Region Council and the Mayors are asked to “support every initiative to improve the regional health service so that it guarantees the right to health through universal and non-discriminatory access, with suitable resources and based on progressiveness in implementation of the art. 32 of the Constitution of the Republic”.

The Committee (founded by Medicina Democratica, Osservatorio Salute, Arci Lombardia, the Acli, the CGIL with the Public Function category and the Pensioners’ Union, to which various associations and parties have been added over the days), in updating on the evolution of the path undertaken after the stop, by the Regional Council, of the original idea – and which it does not want to give up – of bringing the citizens of Lombardy to vote to repeal some paragraphs of the regional health law, he informs that , after the appeal presented to the TAR, in the hearing last April, the Judge did not accept the Region’s findings and decided to “notify the appeal to the Regional Council (in addition to the Regional Council). The next hearing is set for November 13, 2024.”

The legal battle, therefore, continues and so do we FP CGILWe, with the entire Committee, hope for a positive outcome. We have many reasons, starting from the five ones represented in the petition: to create a Single Booking Center (CUP) between public and private structures, eliminate waiting lists, stop using coin-operated doctors, improve RSAs and services for elderly people and, for all, young and old, strengthen and relaunch local healthcare – says Lello Tramparulo, secretary of the Lombard category -. We will continue to collect signatures for this petition which, after June 10th, we will deliver to the Region. When we talk to people at the banquets we set up in hospitals and squares, we don’t need many explanations: many, too many, know what it means to book a medical visit or an exam in the public and have to wait months and months. For this reason there are those who, unfortunately, give up on treatment. Paying privately is not for everyone. But it should also be noted – underlines the trade unionist – that the right to health also concerns healthcare and social healthcare personnel: workers, with the progressive weakening of public health, have worsened their conditions, they skip rest and holidays, they have increasingly heavier loads and they feel crushed between the duty to carry out their tasks and the daily pressure of citizens and of citizens. The situation in hospitals, for example, is worrying: the shortage of staff weighs more every day, accentuated by the flight of workers in search of better conditions. We must and want to reverse the trend. Public health is a common good, let’s safeguard it”.
