The Bolzano Court of Assizes of Appeal modified the sentence relating to Suleiman Adams, the Ghanaian citizen who, on 29 December 2020, caused the death of Agitu Ideo Gudeta, a 42-year-old Ethiopian shepherdess, in Frassilongo, Trentino , known as a symbol of local integration.

At the request of the defense, represented by the lawyer Nicola Zilio, and in line with the provisions of the Court of Cassation, presided over by judge Silvia Monaco, the Court redefined the crime of sexual violence as contempt of a corpse, reducing Adams’ total sentence by one year and eight months. This decision is based on the fact that the act of violence occurred when the victim was already dying or dead.

Adams, who confessed to the crime, was previously sentenced by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Trento on December 5, 2022, to 15 years and eight months for murder and 4 years and four months for sexual assault.

The victim, Agitu, owner of the “La Capra Felice” farm, was found lifeless in his bedroom by his neighbors, alerted by a friend worried about his failure to arrive for an appointment.

The investigations immediately focused on Adams, who at the time of the events was a collaborator of the pastor. Subsequently, the man confessed the crime to investigators, declaring that he killed the woman after an argument resulting from the failure to pay a monthly salary.
