The preliminary hearing has been set for the 19 suspects in the investigation into the racket of the Mallardo clan in Giugliano. The staff of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate, a branch of the Department of Public Security, carried out a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP Office of the Court of Naplesat the request of District Anti-Mafia Directorate, charged to various subjects. All seriously suspected, in various capacities, of the crimes of mafia-type association, external complicity in mafia association, extortion and attempted extortion aggravated by mafia methods.

The subjects involved are: Francesco Mallardo, Oreste Comite, Stefano Cecere, Adrian Conete, Ugo De Chiara, Michele Forino, Nicola Iodice, Francesco Mallardo (called or marmular), Antonio Mangia, Michele Marrone, Alessandro Micillo, Lucia Pelliccio, Marco Pezzella, Angelo Pirozzi, Domenico Pirozzi, Cristofaro Paragliola, Saverio Russo, Federico Terracciano, Gennaro Trambarulo, Francesco Vitiello, Luigi Vitiello.

The provision was the result of investigations carried out by the DIA of Naples and coordinated by the DDA at the expense of, among others, a building contractor from Giugliano who would have had a contiguous relationship with the Mallardo clan in order to obtain favors.

In particular, a colluding entrepreneur would have carried out extortionate conduct to the detriment of other entrepreneurs. With the same precautionary measure, two other subjects believed to be close to the man were arrested Mallard clan, seriously suspected of having extorted the sum of 90 thousand euros from a building contractor from Giugliano for the construction works of a residential complex consisting of 12 apartments.

Last year’s investigation created a sensation because it also involved politicians and municipal technicians.
