SASSARI | May 7, 2024. After the first meetings reserved for schools with Roberta Balestrucci and Riccardo Gazzaniga, Angelo Mazza opens the public previews of the Mens Sana sports literature festival tomorrow with his new novel “Jump”. Published by The Mistral, the book tells the story of a promising long jumper, Filomeno La Gazza, portrayed in his adult life struggling with the serious problems that undermine his father’s health. In the passing of today, the protagonist retraces his yesterday, full of dreams and bitterness. To mess up the present, his uncle Tommaso, who had moved away many years earlier following an argument, returns to his life.
The author will present the novel Wednesday 8 May to Sassariin the headquarters of Popular Sports Library (via Turritana, 76b) in conversation with Sebastiano Virgilio. The meeting, which will begin at 6.30pmwill be enriched by the readings of Ivo Pinna.
Angelo Mazza deals with professional training and recovery of adolescents at risk of dropping out of school. She cured, with Alberto Capitta And Pier Francesco Fadda, the collection of stories and poems “Evasioni d’ink” (Voltalacarta 2012), created by the prisoners of the High Security of Badu ‘e Carros. For Il Maestrale, in 2021, he published his first novel “Tascabile undimenticabile”, already winner of the Licanìas prize for unpublished fiction in 2019, and finalist in 2023 of the Leopoldo II of Lorraine prize.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Biblioteca Popolare dello Sport, the Memoria Storica Torresina association and the Koinè Ubik bookshop of Sassari.
The Mens Sana festival is created by Municipality of Bono and with the cultural association Liberos with the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia – Department of public education, cultural heritage, information, entertainment and sport.
