It is expected by June the start of construction work on the new municipal swimming pool in Ravenna. The municipal administration met with the sports clubs today (7 May) to illustrate the next steps.
The intervention, as is known, involves the demolition and reconstruction of the existing plant, which will also be expanded and equipped with new spaces, for swimming but also for other sports and related support services. Since the new structure will partly occupy the area on which the current building stands, the works will be organized in three distinct phases, in order to keep the pool open at all times (the new tank will be built before demolition).
The work will require an investment of 22,176,495 euros and will be implemented, through project finance, by the company Arco Lavori. For the new swimming pool the Municipality of Ravenna obtained a state funding of 6,915,150 euros. The rest of the necessary resources will be allocated by Arco Lavori, which will have the management of the plant under concession from the Municipality for 25 years.
In today’s session the council has the final project was approved and at the same time acknowledged the acquisition of all necessary opinions, authorizations or consent documents. At this point all that is missing is the approval of the executive project, which in any case will almost entirely follow the definitive one, and for which short times are therefore expected.
The building appears as a single volume that is divided into different heights depending on the destinations of the rooms.
The main room, in the centre, is the bath room, equipped with three tubs. The largest will have dimensions 50×25 meters and will be made up of 10 lanes 2.5 meters wide and 2 meters deep; to make its use more flexible, a mobile pontoon is provided for the possible internal division of the water space; Furthermore, in addition to swimming competitions, it will also be able to host water polo. Next to this tub, parallel to the longest side, there will be a grandstand for the public with 851 seats, of which four are for people with disabilities. A second tank is then planned, from 25×21 meters and 8 lanes, with a depth of 1.80 meters and with construction characteristics similar to those of the 50 meter pool.
A third tank it will complete the sports offering of the facility. The latter will be dedicated to introductory courses and will generally have a playful-recreational connotation.
The locker rooms there are eight planned, two for staff and the other six for users; It will be accessed from a control point next to the reception, where there will be electronically controlled turnstiles.
The construction of a lightweight covered structure that will contain is also planned four padel courtsnext to the main entrance, from via Falconieri, equipped with a changing room area, hallway, toilet and showers.
L’energy supply it will take place through renewable source systems – the photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the pool room -; the installation of an insulating coat is planned on all external walls and various water saving solutions will be used, such as the insertion of a tank for water accumulation, flow reduction systems, the use of sanitary appliances with double flush cisterns and monitoring of water consumption.
A new one is also planned new parking area, which will always be accessed from via Falconieri, on the west side, which will be dedicated to service staff and athletes during competitions, with 23 parking spaces, four of which are for disabled people, and 11 for motorcycles. In the area outside the perimeter of the facility, on the north-west side, two stalls for coaches will be built, which can be used for sports club competitions, giving continuity to the internal parking dedicated to them.
