“A message from the former mayor is circulating on social media regarding the closure of the swimming pools, in which numbers are reeled off at random, avoiding mentioning the most important ones – explains Damiano Sette, candidate for councilor on the Valeria Citizen Mayor list – In the context of his umpteenth lesson unsolicited, Gaffeo does not mention, for example, the number of workers and families who have been affected by the closure of the swimming center. How many users (more than 2000) including young people, elderly people, disabled people, adults and athletes have no longer been able to benefit from our swimming pool and have been forced to make long and expensive journeys or, worse, to abandon the practice of swimming.
And all this because, returning to the numbers, in 4 and a half years of office, the former mayor was unable to plan maintenance interventions to guarantee everyone access to such an important public service, underestimating the fact that the hub natatorium was managed by a company without the necessary qualifications – Sette insists – Gaffeo’s defense is incomplete and even ridiculous. The real fact is before everyone’s eyes: the swimming pools are closed, due to his administrative incompetence. Could they have been saved?
Yes, if a simple programming logic wasn’t missing. Then there is another fact that should be remembered: on January 25, 2024, a city council meeting dedicated to this issue was held and whoever speaks today, i.e. the former mayor, did not even show up in the chamber that day, ignoring the appeals received from everywhere and above all from the users, who deserved answers. But, before their eyes, they could only see an empty chair.”
