The Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Foggia, Michela Valente, accepted the request for immediate trial made by the Foggia prosecutor’s office against 22-year-old Alessio Marino, currently accused of the murder of his brother-in-law Alessandro Ronzullo, 40-year-old from San Ferdinando di Puglia , but resident in San Severo.

It emerged that between the two there was an acquaintance and a relationship, being romantically linked to two girls from the city of Alto Tavoliere, twin sisters. The incident dates back to the evening of October 26th: the gunshot ambush took place in via Lucera, on the outskirts of Foggia; the 40-year-old car dealer died shortly after arriving at hospital. At least two shots were scored while the victim was in the car, in the company of two people who transported the injured man to the Foggia Polyclinic.

He feared he would end up like Ronzullo: “They want to shoot me”

The immediate judgment decree was deposited in the registry on April 29th and is based above all on the declarations made in the days following the murder by the suspect’s partner; statements which, however, were fully retracted by the witness (“I didn’t see anything that day, I wasn’t there”)during the evidentiary incident requested by the prosecutor’s office (prosecutors Bray and Giampietruzzi) and carried out on 29 February in room 6 of the Foggia courthouse.

The examination, contained in just over 60 pages, collects a series of contradictions and comes to a standstill on the woman’s admission: “I invented the whole contraption myself”referring to the well-detailed reconstruction of the incident given at the police station.

Marino, assisted by lawyers Roberto Loizzo and Massimo Chiusolo of the Bari Court, will appear in court on May 31st for the start of the criminal proceedings against him. The 22-year-old is accused of voluntary manslaughter (“because, by exploding multiple gunshots against Alessandro Ronzullo which reached the injured person in the right scapular region and the right lumbar region, it caused his death”) and because, as stated in the indictment, “in execution of the plan, he illegally possessed and carried in a public place a common firearm of the 7.65 caliber semi-automatic pistol type”.

Ronzullo’s family members, represented by the lawyer Luigi Marinelli, could decide to join as civil parties at the hearing on May 31st.
