The Maitani Institute finalist at the Comix Games in Turin

The students of the Maitani Institute of Orvieto will arrive in Turin with the intention of conquering the podium. They have earned a place in the grand final of the Comix Games, the national ludolinguistics competition organized by Comix (Franco Cosimo Panini Editore) in collaboration with the International Book Fair of Turin and Repubblica@Scuola, with the participation of the Mondadori publishing house, the Egyptian Museum and Bper Banca.

Monday 13 May, at the Lingotto, the students from Orvieto will try to win the title of national champions of the Comix Games 2024, snatching it from the other finalist teams from all over Italy. From October to January, hundreds of students from all over Italy tried their hand at composing a literary diss track. After choosing a work of their choice and identifying the protagonist and antagonist, the children had the task of writing a dialogue, a “repartee” between the two characters, taking inspiration from rap and dissing. Among all the participants in the competition, a jury of experts selected the best who, beating the competition, earned a place in the final.

From 2pm to 4pm, in the Blue Room of Pad 3, at the Turin International Book Fair, the final act of the linguistic marathon called Comix Games will take place: a big party that will bring together students from Northern Italy at the Lingotto to the South and in which young people from the Maitani Institute of Orvieto will also participate. To win the title of national champions of the Comix Games, the Umbrian boys will have to defeat the other teams in the competition using tautograms, lipograms and live songs themed “Vita Imaginary” (theme of the 2024 Salon).

The students of Maitani will have to compete with the students of the Roncalli Higher Institutes of Poggibonsi (SI) and Russell-Newton of Scandicci (FI) as well as those of the scientific high schools Don Delfo Gioacchini of Orte (VT) and Ferraris of Turin. For the middle school section, the Rocco Institute of Sant’Arpino (CE), Giovanni XXIII of San Ferdinando di Puglia (BAT), Antonio Deci of Orte (VT), and Pindemonte of Pescantina (VR) will compete. The jury will include Federico Pace, journalist from Repubblica, Laura Panini, president of Franco Cosimo Panini Editore, Franco Barbolini, editorial coordinator of Comix and Francesco Morgando, Feltrinelli author.
