But monkeys hear with their bellies and do not have mastery of the language. Fabian doesn’t speak Italian and for us this was a fundamental aspect and a fun starting point.”

After five years the anthropologists find themselves listening to a monkey transformed into an academic speaker. «When I met Fabian ten years ago I immediately thought that he was perfect for this role. I fell in love with him being on stage. We started thinking about how to bring Kafka’s text to the stage, even if we still didn’t know which of us should interpret it. Then I understood that the role was Fabian’s because it was stimulating for me to watch him while he played it, it was natural for me to come down from the stage to guide him.” Jung adds «The monkey is a fighter, it is up to the public to decide whether it will be a winner or a loser. For the monkey there is no other possibility than to continue along the path he has traced.”
