ANCONA – Another warning against a man for stalking behavior carried out against his ex-girlfriend.
He, an Italian of about 30 years old, she, an Italian of about 20 years old, they had had an emotional relationship that lasted a few years, at the end of which he had never resigned himself to the end of the story. In fact, on one occasion the young man had been stopped by the police following a street argument with his ex and on that occasion he had pushed the young woman until she fell, taking her cell phone and throwing it to the ground. Following the investigation conducted by the police, it also emerged that the man was trying to contact his ex nagging calls and messages, often waiting for her under her home or at her workplace.
Following this persevering and obsessive conduct, falling within the category of persecutory acts, the Police Commissioner issued – of office – the prevention measure of warning the man, warning him that, if he were to repeat his conduct, he will be officially reported and his sentence will be aggravated.
The prevention measure adopted, pursuant to art. 3 of Legislative Decree n. 93 allows the Provincial Police Commissioner, in cases in which a fact which must be considered attributable (also) to the type of persecutory acts is reported to the Police Force, in a non-anonymous form, to proceed with the warning of the person responsible for the fact.
The Police Commissioner of Ancona says: «”Always being there” means above all intervening before situations degenerate. In a historical moment in which gender violence undoubtedly constitutes a social emergency, it is our obligation, as the State Police, Law Enforcement, Judiciary, Volunteer and Trade Associations, local Administrations, to network to welcome all subjects included in the so-called “Vulnerable Victims”, who need our help and our presence. Let’s not look the other way, but let’s lend a hand to those we know, hear or see in difficulty.”
Consider that in the same period last year, 8 warnings were issued for stalking. In the first four months of the current year, however, a strong trend has been recorded, with 13 measures issued to date. And if last year a total of 30 warnings were issued, this year the phenomenon does not seem destined to slow down. Far from it if we consider that in just the first two months of the year we have already exceeded half of the measures issued in total last year. The data could cause concern but it is good to remember that in no case have relapses been recorded and, therefore, in all cases in which the prevention measure of the warning has been intervened, this has truly had a deterrent effect on the perpetrators of the pipelines.
