For the Italian duo, great success and historic debut in the British series derivative championship ROME (ITALPRESS) – Edoardo Colombi made history in his first ever race in the British Superbike at Oulton Park. The reigning Aprilia RS 660 Trophy champion made his debut in the British production-derived championship, achieving a hat-trick with a pole position and a double in the Pirelli National Sportbike class. Colombi won Race 1 starting from pole position, a complicated first heat with safety cars, crashes and a red flag, but he managed the situation well in conditions that were new to him, facing a new circuit and championship, crossing the finish line in first position. Even in Race 2, the Italian driver demonstrated great maturity, closely following one of the strongest drivers in the Championship, and then overtaking him towards the end.

Colombi, who had demonstrated his skills on the track during the Aprilia RS 660 Trophy, now also managed to win the first round of the BSB astride the Aprilia RS 660 of the Italian Gradara Corse team. “Seeing Edoardo in pole position and then victorious on his debut is a great satisfaction for Aprilia Racing and for the Trofeo 660 project”, commented Massimo Rivola. “Soon – adds Rivola – the fourth year of our Trophy will begin, which is demonstrating how the RS 660 is a competitive motorbike, educational for younger riders and capable of allowing excellent cornering. Last year Edoardo fought for the title until the last race and his debut at BSB is a good omen; I hope he continues on this path. The Pirelli National Sportbike category, although still new, proves to be very interesting and selective compared to the Supersport 300. We must continue to work to see more competitive grids in Italy and to witness Aprilia victories more and more abroad, as has already happened in America.” “I’m very happy because, in addition to scoring the pole position and winning both races, I faced rivals who were much more experienced than me on equal terms on a track and in a completely new context – explains Colombi -. The Gradara Corse team did a great job exceptional, the RS 660 proved to be a perfect motorbike. I had fun surrounded by the fantastic English public, capable of appreciating our all-Italian combination.” – Aprilia press office photo – (ITALPRESS). ari/com 07-May-24 10:58 .
