A weekend full of successes for Atletica Piacenza at the Regional Club Championships, held in Modena last 4 and 5 May. The big surprise was Mattia Favari, who shone in the 100 and 200 meters.
In the 100 metres, Favari repeated his personal best with a time of 10″83, an exceptional result which brings him further closer to the top of the discipline in Italy and places him directly among the best sprinters in Emilia-Romagna. But the real masterpiece came in the 200 metres, where he won silver and equaled the absolute provincial record, which had stood since the 1980s, with a time of 21″74. An extraordinary result which allowed him to obtain even the minimum participation in the Italian U23 Championships and to win the ticket for the Challenges, the gateway to the Absolute Italian Championships.

Great satisfaction for Favari’s coach, Salvatore Rinaldi, who praised the talent and dedication of his athlete. Salvatore is part of the new generation of young technicians who carry out an excellent activity of valorising local talents.
In addition to Favari, other important successes came from Lorenzo Cesena, spearhead of the red and white team, who qualified directly for the Italian Absolute Championships in the 400 hurdles with a time of 51″79, also winning the gold medal. Chiara Sverzellati, on the other hand, achieved the Junior minimum in the 200 meters with a time of 25″19, also touching the minimum in the 100 meters with a time of 12″38. The two, trained by the historic coach Giovanni Baldini, continue to grow and confirm themselves among the best performers in the region in their respective specialties.
Also noteworthy are the new personal bests of Lucrezia Proietti (10.26 meters in the triple jump), Giulio Bonino (12.49 meters in the triple jump) and Gloria Stevani (23.65 meters in the discus throw).
Overall, a weekend to remember for Atletica Piacenza, which confirms its role as the protagonist of regional athletics.
