The Municipality of Reggio Calabria has been selected as one of the 15 cities reserved for the National Fund for Children and Adolescents (FNIA), with funding of just over one million euros intended to support services for children and teenagers. This initiative, foreseen in the decree of the Minister of the Family in concert with other ministries, has the aim of promoting the rights of the youngest and addressing the educational emergency which is becoming increasingly acute, as demonstrated by recent news events.
The resources assigned represent precious support to strengthen the fragile network of social services in the area. In particular, coordinated interventions will be implemented through a program agreement involving various institutional actors, including the Great Metropolitan Hospital, the Juvenile Justice Centre, the Provincial Health Authority and the Regional School Office. The Municipality will act as a leader in this agreement, coordinating social welfare services with local and complementary health, school and juvenile justice services, in order to promote effective social integration for the city’s children and adolescents.
