The nerve center of every team. Catania’s midfield has had several players this year, from August to today, due to changes, injuries and technical choices. It is useless, now, to dredge up the egregious errors committed by the club which got rid of good players in January without replacing them properly (not even quantitatively…).
Let’s go back to today. On Sicily this morning we are wondering about the key players of the red and blue midfield. Zammarini represents one of the few certainties for continuity of performance, but alone he certainly cannot be enough. Then down with Sturaro and Tello, who Zeoli is trying to recover beyond the physical ailments (there is still a week left to get rid of them), and the surprise Cicerelli, employed as fifth midfielder on the left lane: the boy jumps the man, creates numerical superiority, definitely boasts another step compared to his opponents.
And let’s not forget the contribution of Nana Welbeck, practically omnipresent, always lucid and decisive when it comes to uprooting balls and starting again. If Mr. Zeoli and his staff succeed in the miracle of recovering Ndoj in time, a player with great qualities but totally out of shape, Catania will really be able to have their say on him.
