He waited for his ex-wife outside his father’s study and injured her with a knife in the street. The 71-year-old, hit while trying to defend his daughter from the blows, is died in hospital. It happened today, Monday 6 May, in via Ciro Menotti a Varese: the attacker, Marco Manfrinati, 40 years old, was arrested by the police.
The woman’s father, Fabio Limido, a 71-year-old geologist, injured in the face and one hand, was found in cardiac arrest: he was hospitalized with resuscitation maneuvers in progress and died a few hours later. His 37-year-old daughter Lavinia Limido, who was rescued with stab wounds to her face, will instead have to undergo surgery.
The violent double attack it would have arisen from a complicated separation between the two spouses, which has already come under the scrutiny of the police in recent weeks. The man had in fact already been reported by his ex-partner, and had recently been subjected to a no-approach measure. “The problems had been there for a long time. Three years of warnings, with repeated episodes, and then we got to this”, commented a family friend on site. “The signs were definitely there, it’s certainly not a bolt from the blue. A tragedy foretold.”

But not only. “How is your husband?”, Marco Manfrinati would have said several times to his ex-wife’s mother, whom he met on the street while the police were taking him away, after having killed his ex-father-in-law and stabbed the woman who had been his wife in the face. The old woman had rushed to Via Menotti as soon as she learned of the terrible attack on her husband and daughter in the street.
