Imola says goodbye to the season with a defeat: Ravenna wins at the Benelli, with a goal in each half. Carpi however ruined the party for the Giallorossi by beating Certaldo 5-1 at Cabassi and gaining promotion to Serie C. So no smiles, neither on one side nor on the other, with the former Gadda’s team who will extend their year with the playoffs and that of D’Amore who closed the regular season with yet another external problem, raising the white flag for the fourth time in the last five outings. The one with Fanfulla at the Galli, last March 28th, will therefore remain the Imolese’s last high point for a long time, at least until the start of the 24/25 championship.
The match. Convincing start for the rossoblù, dangerous on several occasions in the Cordaro area. In the 8th minute, Diawara unloads to the limit for Manes, who shoots diagonally wide. A handful of minutes later, Vlahovic tries, doing well at building space inside the area and kicking a ball that grazes the crossbar. After half-way through the first half, Ravenna began to grow and, on the half-hour mark, they had a real opportunity to take the lead: Campagna entered the area and was brought down by Garavini, Palmieri blew the whistle and awarded the penalty. Alluci appears from 11 meters, but his shot ends up in orbit. However, the Entella midfielder made up for it a few minutes later, hitting Laukzemis from distance with a nice low shot from the edge of the area (1-0). The Giallorossi continue to press, but Laukzemis responds this time, following a double close-range attempt by Tirelli. In the second half, Imolese began to travel with conviction again, with Daffe hitting the post following a serve from Gulinatti and Garavini warming up Cordaro’s gloves with a header. The news coming from Carpi does not dampen the enthusiasm of Ravenna who, having overcome the worst, come back out of their shell, regaining the inertia of the match and sealing the second goal near the 90th minute with Sabbatani. A bitter ending for the rossoblù, after a season below expectations.
