The famous Coppa d’Oro Sammontana will also be available in the Chocolate of Modica PGI flavour, with a classic base of vanilla ice cream and meringues.

The range of ice creams Sammontana is enriched with a new flavour: la Gold Cup will also be available at Modica PGI chocolate. The iconic cup that has kept us company for generations (it has existed since the 1960s) will maintain its classic nature with vanilla-flavoured ice cream, fresh cream and meringues, but will also have a chocolate ripple and crunchiness of the nuggets of Modica Chocolate.

This new Gold Cup as always, it will be available in bars and authorized retailers in the single-portion format, as well as in supermarkets in the four-piece pack.

Coppa d’Oro and Modica Chocolate

Sammontana has always offered collaborations and synergies with the great Italian brands, Cioccolato di Modica PGI is the latest in a long series. Only Coppa d’Oro has been offered for years in the Amarena Fabbri and Caffè Segafredo flavours, so we are not surprised that they chose an iconic chocolate for the new version of the product. Modica Chocolate, however, is not the only one present in the range of offers: the cups had already been proposed with Domori chocolate, in a version almost identical to the one described at the beginning (vanilla ice cream, meringues, chocolate ripple – in a package that varies only in terms of details). To replace the Domori chocolate chips, the novelty contains fragments of Modica PGI chocolate.

The rediscovery of Modica PGI Chocolate

For the Tuscan company, among the leaders of ice cream for large-scale retail trade, it was already a successful experiment: in 2021 it launched the Cinquestelle cone with Modica PGI Chocolate. At the presentation, the mayor of Modica Ignazio Abbate spoke about the raw material supplied – for the cones – by the Di Bartolo company, associated with the Consortium, and said he was proud of this collaboration: “produced over 4 million ice creams per week“.

Modica Chocolate is definitely one trendy choice, also to validate the PGI obtained only a few years ago: since 2018, and not without contrary opinions. The awarding of Protected Geographical Indication obtained by the European Community has in fact shocked artisans and others, who have seen the authenticity of the original product put at risk.
