“Build your safety”: students for safety at work

Today’s students are tomorrow’s workers.
And hopefully they are safer workers on average than those of today, given that in Italy there are hundreds of fatal accidents every year.
Alarming data, also highlighted by the unions, who in recent days have covered Piazza IV Novembre with coffins, in memory of the 110 workplace deaths counted in our region in the last 5 years.

But if the deaths, while not making enough news, at least end up in the newspapers. There are hundreds of so-called “minor” injuries and unhealthy situations in the workplace that cause physical damage and work-related illnesses.

A topic on which a lot needs to be done, in terms of controls but also prevention and awareness.

This is the meaning of the initiative promoted by the Cesf Construction Center for safety and training in collaboration with two Umbrian middle schools, one in the capital (Perugia 5) and the other in Norcia, which have created a CalenDiario on safety, with drawn illustrations following training interventions developed by CESF teachers on the main health and safety risks.

The awards ceremony was part of the celebrations of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

The project developed with training interventions on the management of first aid in the first classes, with the illustrative competition in the second classes, while the students of the third classes created brick arches in the CESF laboratories of Perugia and Norcia.

The objective of the project, financed by Inail Umbria, was the promotion and implementation of training, information and awareness initiatives to develop awareness and disseminate knowledge on safety and prevention of health, accidents at work and occupational diseases.
