The appeal of the Mayor of Padua and the President of the Cariparo Foundation

Dear fellow citizens,

on June 2nd we will celebrate the anniversary of the Republic, established 78 years ago based on the outcome of the popular referendum of June 2nd 1946 which saw the participation of women for the first time.

The institutions will pay due homage to the Italians who in that dramatic season were able to lift the country from the moral and material rubble of a disastrous war and in a short time gave life to a democratic Constitution which places at the center the inviolable rights of the person and the mandatory duties of solidarity .

In fact, June 2nd has rightly become Republic and Constitution Day, a celebration in which everyone can identify and which for this very reason we would like to be able to count on widespread popular demonstrations. To this end we turn to all interested associations, inviting them to contribute to collective participation, each operating in their own way with shows, visits, sporting activities, etc.

For any small organizational expenses you can request support from the Cariparo Foundation which will be provided through the Culture Department of the Municipality of Padua which is entrusted with the task of coordinating the activities. The requests, which must be sent to the Municipality by May 15th, will be evaluated on the basis of their compliance with the objective of giving a connotation and popular participation to the celebrations.

We are confident in a positive response to this appeal and from now on we wish all our fellow citizens a happy Republic and Constitution Day.
