VARESE – The second edition of the San Vittore Festival. Tonight, Monday 6th, the show dedicated to Saint Rita of Cascia is scheduled at the Varese Theatre, while tomorrow, Tuesday 7 Maythere will be space for music: at 9pm in the Basilica with free entry it will resonate Fauré’s Requiem. It closes on Wednesday 8th with the religious celebrations of the patron saint.

A Requiem of hope

Tomorrow evening theSacro Monte Orchestra of VareseThe Choir Josquin Desprez and the Sine Nomine Choir they will perform the famous Requiem by Gabriel Fauré on the centenary of the death of the great French composer. The choirs conducted by Francesco Miotti And Giuseppe Reggiori and the orchestra under the leadership of Riccardo Bianchi will allow you to venture on a musical journey that celebrates the essence of the meeting through the majestic and moving “Requiem” composed between 1887 and 1890, a musical testimony of hope, comfort and transformation. In this masterpiece Fauré challenges the traditional conventions of the Requiemfocusing not on the fear and sadness of death, but rather on the peace and hope that can arise from encounters with the divine and with each other.

His music evokes a sense of inner rebirth, transformation and consolation, inviting the listener to reflect on the profound meaning of human and spiritual encounters. Through its delicate melodies and serene harmonies, Fauré’s Requiem takes the listener on an emotional journey, offering moments of contemplation, gratitude and renewal. The following will be performed: Introït et Kyrie, Offertoire, Sanctus, Pie Jesu, Agnus Dei, Libera me, In Paradisum. Orchestra: Orchestra: 2 clarinets, 2 horns, harp, organ, strings; Choir: Sopranos, Alti, Tenors, Basses; Soprano soloist, Bass soloist.

The celebrations of the patron saint of Varese will finally end with the liturgical solemnity of San Vittore on the day of Wednesday 8 May. Two celebrations are scheduled in the morning: at 8.30 and at 10, when the Lighthouse Rite will be repeated during the solemn celebration. In the afternoon, at 3.30pm, the doors will open Church of San Martino for the guided tour and at 6pm the vigil mass of the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord will be celebrated in the basilica.
