On 8 May 2024, at 10.30 am, at the Regional Council of Campania – Island F13 of the Naples business center (Room “G. Siani”), the presentation of the “Annual Report 2023” will be held, drawn up by the Campania Guarantor of people subjected to measures restricting personal freedom Samuele Ciambriello, in collaboration with the Regional Observatory on prison life.

The President of the Regional Council of Campania will speak. Gennaro Oliviero, the President of the Supervisory Court Dr. Patrizia Mirra and the National Guarantor of the rights of persons deprived of liberty Prof. Felice Maurizio D’Ettore.

Thus the Guarantor Ciambriello: “Prison today in Italy is a merciless photograph: overcrowding, presence of prisoners with dual diagnoses, absence of psychiatrists and psychologists, suicide rate 20 times higher than that of free people. The uncertainties and resistance to change lead our penitentiary system to have to face various and strong critical issues.

The numbers on prison must serve not only to raise awareness of the conditions in which these places of deprivation of personal freedom find themselves, but also to help us make it more humane, dignified and constitutional”.

Prison workers, magistrates, social workers, institutional health workers, third sector workers and volunteers are invited to participate in the meeting.
