A new building will be built in Sesto San Giovanni new park Of 41 thousand square meters in place of the former Parpagliona quarry. An agreement was reached for the reclamation and redevelopment of the area after approximately 20 years of dialogue between the administration and the company that owns the site.
The company has presented a plan to expand the area dedicated to the recovery of hazardous waste in the Metropolitan City and is committed to some environmental redevelopment interventions in the area including the area of the former Parpagliona quarry. The company will hand over to the Municipality an area of 41 thousand square meters located between the Lambro river and the peduncle of the ring road within the Plis Parco media valley Lambro.
«The area, before being sold, will be reclaimed and regenerated as a park with the creation of cycle/pedestrian paths in continuity, among other things, with the cycle path of via Manin – explains the mayor of Sesto San Giovanni, Roberto Di Stefano -. In this way, by joining the Naviglio della Martesana track, in practice, a connection is created between Sesto San Giovanni, Milan, Cologno Monzese up to Trezzo sull’Adda”.
