Palermo conquered the playoffs (long live), but to do what? The somewhat disheveled question does not seem irritating, irritating or impertinent. It can’t even be called original. In fact, that’s what the Rosanero fans are asking in large numbers. How much hope can this team, in the midst of a technical and tactical crisis, have of playing its cards for promotion to Serie A, a theoretically possible goal, but not close, depending on the season and performances? The point is this, whatever the final position.
Even against the bad Ascoli we saw the usual and very boring script who has long been attentive to the patience of lovers, despite everything. There is no point in hunting for details in the match report. Even Desplanches’ positive debut is an event to be considered from a future perspective: a good goalkeeper, but this was already known.
The only story, comparable to logical pessimism, which could dismantle an announced destiny would be promotion. Or, alternatively, a mini-championship played with the heart between the teeth and a march capable of redeeming the ugliness of a year to be quickly archived. Not just for the ranking, but for the way in which we got there.
We are also fans, therefore, and we hope, beyond all evidence. We hope that Mignani’s Palermo, no different at the moment from Corini’s, will be able to surprise us. We hope that, as in certain comedies, the goodness of the Rosanero triumphs over adversity and allows us to wave the flag of the premiere hooked.
We are confident in the medium-term future. Honestly, we think that criticism should never lose sight of the common interest. But then Palermo-Ascoli is added to the mnemonic gallery of sporting horrors. And we return to the initial question: to the playoffs to do that, dear, our, disappointing Palermo? However, it will have to be overcome. And believe it, with inexhaustible passion. Flags high.
