We are still waiting to rejoice, given that the prize could be the most prestigious up for grabs, namely the Champions League. But today, after Fiorentina’s defeat on the Hellas Verona pitch, it’s official: Bologna will at least play in the Europa League.
Mathematics doesn’t lie: Fiorentina is now 14 points behind Bologna, an unbridgeable distance in the four games that remain to be played (there is also the recovery with Atalanta). So, at least seventh place is guaranteed for Bologna: with fifth position becoming useful for the Champions League, this means the certainty of the Europa League.
The last time the rossoblù qualified for the UEFA Cup – today’s Europa League, in fact – was in the 1998-1999 season, coach Carlo Mazzone. The dream now is to achieve the goal of the Champions League, and in three days the goal is more than within reach.
