Marsala’s candidacy to host the Bersaglieri rally on 11 May 2025 is official. This was officially communicated last May 3rd by the municipal councilor Ignazio Bilardello, during the press conference for the presentation of “Lights from the Mediterranean”. Mayor Massimo Grillo, accompanied by councilor Ignazio Bilardello, Enzo Sturiano president of the city council and councilor Lele Pugliese have already reached Ascoli Piceno, where yesterday they participated in the 71st National Bersaglieri Rally (Anb). The Marsala delegation with their own city banner participated in the Holy Mass officiated by Monsignor Gianpiero Palmeri in the church of San Francesco, where a common appeal for peace was hoped for. Ottavio Renzi, national president of the Anb, which is celebrating 100 years since its foundation, joined the message of peace. “We assure you – Renzi stated – that the Bersagliere has a very specific objective, that of pursuing the objective of peace, and if to achieve it he is called to use violence, it is because he is called to defend the values of peace and freedom and civil coexistence between peoples. We as an association no longer use weapons, we become volunteer operators to help the most vulnerable, as happened during the Covid period”. The National Bersaglieri Rally will end this morning, in the presence of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with the parade of around 12 thousand Bersaglieri, in the presence of around 30 thousand people, as estimated. The parade will start at 8.45 from the Northern Ring Road, where the participants have been gathering since this morning at 7.00. The banner of the city of Marsala will also parade through the streets of Ascoli Piceno this morning. The fanfares will arrive in Piazza del Popolo around 10.00 and from here each group will perform in the characteristic Bersaglieri race until arriving in Piazza Arringo. At 12.30 pm the “Passaggio della Stecca” ceremony will be held which will conclude the national meeting of the Bersaglieri in Ascoli Piceno. For 2025 the important event will be celebrated in Marsala. “According to estimates by the Administration of Ascoli Piceno, this year the presence of around 50 thousand people was recorded – states the municipal councilor Ignazio Bilardello. It is clear that it is an event that will involve not only the city of Marsala, which has become the promoter, but will involve the entire province of Trapani, with its 25 municipalities. The Prefecture of Trapani will act as a technical table to coordinate the event. Today, as part of the “Passing of the Cue” ceremony, it will be made official – says Mayor Massimo Grillo – that the next national Bersaglieri gathering will be held in Marsala and we will formalize the invitation to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to attend our Municipality”.
